Roma’s Europa League campaign got off to a poor start in Bulgaria when José Mourinho’s side was beaten 2-1 by Ludogorets

Roma have lost their second match in the space of a week with a surprise 2-1 defeat to Bulgarian club Ludogorets in Razgrad

The home side held on to secure a famous victory, with Roma suffering now back-to-back defeats for the first time this season.

The Slovenian manager spoke to dsport.bg after the final whistle, praising his side’s effort in overcoming Roma’s qualities in tonight’s Europa League fixture.

Mourinho said to Sky Sport after the final whistle, “I’m not saying we played a fantastic game because it’s not true. But I find the result quite unreliable. The performance was enough to not lose the game.”

It seems like everything’s going against us,” the Special One continued. “Fortunately this was not an elimination match and there are still five games left to play.”

“Winning the first match always leaves you in a good position but now there is pressure. Next week at home we need to collect three points.”

Coach Ante Simundza said during his interview, “We won because we fought on the pitch. It is difficult to play so openly against Roma, a team that has great ambitions in the Italian league,” said Simundza.

It is very difficult to compare the Bulgarian league and the Europa League. In the league, we are almost always favorites, but in Europe, this is not the case.

It was a good win, but tomorrow is a new day. A match does not make the season. I’m very happy not only that Nonato scored, but because we needed him for his qualities, said Simundza.
