Graham Potter has been named Chelsea's new manager, replacing Thomas Tuchel in the hot seat following his surprise sacking.

The 47-year-old, who has been touted as a future England manager, has won many admirers for his attractive playing style and has Brighton sitting fourth in the early Premier League table despite operating on a limited budget.

The former Swansea City and Ostersunds coach are expected to have his Chelsea deal finalized in time for him to take charge of Saturday’s Premier League trip to Fulham.

Tuchel was axed by Chelsea on Wednesday after a third defeat in just seven matches this season.

He arrived at Chelsea's training ground, and said, “I am very excited to partner with Chelsea’s new ownership group and look forward to meeting and working with the exciting group of players and to develop a team and culture that our amazing fans can be proud of.

“I am incredibly proud and excited to represent Chelsea FC, this fantastic football club,” said the Englishman.

“I would also like to sincerely thank Brighton and Hove Albion for allowing me this opportunity.”

Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly, who axed Tuchel just seven games into the new season, believes Potter will fit perfectly with his vision for the future at Stamford Bridge.
